Sailing at MYC

Welcome to Margate Yacht Club.

We offer sailing opportunities from training sessions, weekly competitive dinghy racing as well as fun social sailing excursions in a wide variety of boats. We are a warm and friendly club and welcome members of all ages and skills to come join us out on the water.

We are a volunteer run club with an extremely active membership. You can join as an individual member, or get involved as a family or as a non sailing member. We welcome kayakers and stand up paddle boarders alike. Find out more in our Membership Information. Safety boats and Race Officer duties are run by our members on a rota basis throughout our programme with training available for the roles.

Youth Sailing

MYC has a thriving youth squad with weekly training sessions for ages between 8 -16yrs.

Training takes place on Wednesday evenings from May through September, meet at the club at 16:30.

Boats can be hired from the club for training sessions and racing.

Racing

MYC race schedule starts in April and runs through to November.

We race on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings (during summer months).

Racing on a Sunday starts at 10:30, meet at the club at 09:00.

There is a huge variety in the MYC fleet from youth training boats to fast double handers. All levels welcome!

Training

We organise various training sessions with our RYA qualified instructors throughout the year.

These range from beginner weekend RYA Dinghy Level 1 & 2 to a fun summer programme for our youth sailors to Powerboat Level 2 and more. Click on the training tab or contact us to find out more.

MYC Social Events

When we’re not on the water we can often be found gathering around a BBQ in our boat yard.

We arrange a few social events throughout the season where we swap sailing stories and nautical adventures!
