About Training
MYC Training Courses
You do not need to have any previous experience of sailing to become a Club member. For those sailing for the first time, the Club offers training courses, which may also be used for refreshing your sailing skills.
We offer several RYA qualifications: -
- RYA Level 1 'Start Sailing'
- RYA Level 2 'Basic Skills'
- RYA Powerboat Level 2
- RYA Safety Boat
- RYA Youth Sailing Scheme - Stages 1-4
The Club also provides free, shore-based training for all members to allow them to be active participants in Club activities. This includes Race Officer/Assistant Race Officer training to help run Club races, and tractor driving training to launch and recover boats safely, and in line with Club policy. You may also join the Club, and learn to sail by crewing-up with a more experienced sailor, and we have several informal coaching days each season at no extra cost.
